Scotland...

Earlier today I was over at BBC Radio Scotland to voice a promo for a
St Andrews Day
feature on The Culture Cafe, in which Billy Kay makes a special case for the Scots language. It got me thinking about this famous voice of Scots culture...

"O wad some power the giftie gie us To see oursel's as ithers see us! It wad frae monie a blunder free us. And foolish notion; What airs in dress and gait wad lea'e us, And ev'n devotion!"

"Dare to be honest and fear no labor"

- Robert Burns

Only when the last tree has died,

Sharing...

"If you knew what I know about the power of giving,
you would not let a single meal pass
without sharing it in some way".
- The Buddah

You can share the pleasure of a delicious meal this christmas time by helping the homeless with Street Smart. Throughout the festive season, you can add a voluntary £1 or more to your bill at many participating restaurants throughout the country. You can also make a donation online.

Character...

"Wrinkles show how we've worked hard,
raised kids, enjoyed good meals, tossed back a
drink or two, laughed, cried and struggled.
They are just symptoms of what gives our lives value.
If you really didn't ever want to get wrinkles,
you should have stopped smiling years ago."
- Anita Roddick, founder of the Body Shop

Recycling...

I had lots of fun taking part in a recycling voice project for Natural Scotland this week! Of course, we can all do a little (or heaps) to reduce landfill and waste. This old proverb sums it up neatly...

"Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without".
- New England proverb
